Good Tree Cutting Techniques
This is a subtitle for your new post
Cutting/Logging a tree is a skill and a very important thing to learn because if you do it wrong, you can greatly restrict tree life. The tree is amazing and a bit of understanding its biology will help you manage it properly. Trees can not heal themselves as we do when we cut our skin. When a tree is hurt, the tissue does not repair itself, it does not heal, otherwise the reaction of the tree is to seal the wound. Two things happen, the damaged area is boxed and a barrier zone is created around the wound. The tree does not heal from within, more precisely the shape of the callus tissue outside on the edges of wounds and new wood eventually grows, closing it from pathogens.
Pruning dangerous trees especially if you trim high. Realistically, tree cutting Singapore
pruning is for qualified arborists who are trained people who manage and understand how to trim trees properly. They know how to properly handle their equipment and how to climb a tree safely. For pruning jobs over your head, I recommend you hire arborist. If you do it yourself, make sure your ladder is firmly attached to the ground and you don't take the plunge. Chain chainsaw should only be used by qualified arbor experts. They are very very dangerous in the hands of amateurs.
There are many calves out there, so beware of those who claim to be tree surgeons. When you involve arborist, ask to see their qualifications, whether they have personal insurance and property and whether they understand Branch Bark Ridge (BBR) technique. If they see you with blanks on the third question, DON'T EVER HAVE THEM! This is the right technique used today to trim tree branches.
This new method is popular in Singapore for about the last 20 years, but it is a big leap in understanding how trees respond to wounds. All trimming creates wounds and the idea is to create as little wounds as possible. Previously, we did not understand this and consequently many dead trees were unnecessary due to poor pruning techniques, flush cuts were the main culprit. It creates large wounds and many Melbourne street trees are cut out in the early days and consequently, these large wounds are infected with mushrooms, bacteria, and insects. They have no natural defenses, because they have been removed in a flush piece.
Collar method
If you are going to trim the tree cutting Singapore branches, the first thing you do is try and find the rigor. This is a swelling near the base of the branch near the place of the branch joining the trunk. Sometimes they are smooth and very difficult to find. This is the point where the tree will naturally release the branches. If you find it, use it as a guide to trim branches, instead you use it as a guide. With your trimming, you remove the branch following the collar line about 5-10cm (1/2 inches) from it. Don't worry if you can't find it, because you can use the BBR method to remove the limbs.
Branch Bark Ridge (BBR) method
BBR is a network, which separates branches from the main stem and forms what I call wrinkles between the branches and stems. All trees have collar but with some species such as Magnolia grandiflora, BBR is very easy to find, while others like Eucalypts sp. very difficult to find. When you find the BBR, try as far as 45 degrees from BBR and that's the point where you start cutting.
It takes a little practice to start recognizing these points, but once you understand that, you'll never do a bad pruning job anymore. You'll also notice that the final trimming looks right and the work finishes. Another thing that you will begin to notice is all the bad pruning work around. You will be amazed and surprised at how forgiving it is tree.
There is another reason to follow both these procedures and that is, if you do, you will release natural chemicals in the tree cutting Singapore (which I call an antiseptic) that closes the wound and fights against bacteria, fungi and insect attacks. Right behind the collar is where all these chemicals are stored and they are released as soon as the wound is made. That is why flush cutting is very bad, because they cut the collar, eliminating the antiseptic agent.
